1st Lecture Program Summary Report:
JIBA International Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mumbai, India a registered chamber of commerce for the Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri Community is conducting a series of Business Development & Management lectures in Mumbai. The lectures are held once a month from June to October 2011 at 08:30PM after Namaz-e-Maghrebain at the Imambada Hall of Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri Jama Masjid at H. Abbas A.S. Street, Dongri, Mumbai covering a range of topics from how to start a new business to how to invest in the stock market. The speakers at the seminars are highly qualified, experienced and successful in their own field from various walks of life.
The first lecture which was held on June 01, 2011 was “Business Ethics in Islam” received a large turnout of nearly 75 participants. It was attended mainly by youth but seniors & ladies were not far behind. These participants were not only from all over Mumbai but also from Bangalore, Bhavnagar, Tanzania, Oman & U.K. The lecture was opened by founding committee member & current Advisory Board member Br. Zuhair Nathani who threw light on the aims, objectives & activities of JIBA & introduced the speaker Maulana Janab Zulfiqar Mehdi Saheb. Janab Zulfiqar Mehdi spoke on the importance of business & enlightened the gathering on business ethics in Islam by quoting sayings of the Masumeen (A.S.). He also addressed real time problems being faced by businessmen today & held a question & answer session to help solve doubts & answer queries raised by the participants. The closing speech was given by JIBA Chairman Br. Sarfraz Panjwani who thanked Maulana Saheb for sharing his knowledge & guiding us, introduced his committee members & thanked his team for their support & executing the event. Ex-Chairman & Advisory Board Member Br. Husein Vakil presented Maulana Saheb a token of appreciation for his efforts & taking out his valuable time. The lecture was followed by light refreshments for the participants.
News of the success & appreciation of the seminar spread far & wide within no time & the same night Secretary Br. Zain Nasser received a phone call from a committee member of JIBA Tanzania & Dar-es-Salaam Jamaat congratulating & applauding the initiative taken.
